Metal Care & Maintenance Guide

At DABforge, we blend ancient blacksmithing traditions with modern protective technology. Every piece of Iron, Bronze, and Copper jewelry or decor is hand-forged and finished with a professional-grade Nano Ceramic Coating.

This advanced coating creates an invisible, hydrophobic barrier that significantly inhibits oxidation and corrosion. However, because these are reactive, "living" metals, proper care is essential to ensure your heirloom piece lasts a lifetime.

### 1. Iron (6th & 11th Anniversary)

Iron is the symbol of strength, but it is naturally prone to oxidation (rust) if exposed to moisture for prolonged periods.

The Coating: Your iron piece is sealed to lock in the forged black scale and prevent immediate rusting.

Best Practices: Always remove iron jewelry before swimming, showering, or heavy exercise.

Maintenance: If the piece gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth. If you notice the finish dulling over the years, a very light application of food-safe mineral oil or renaissance wax can provide an extra layer of defense.

### 2. Bronze (8th Anniversary) & Copper (7th Anniversary)

These "red metals" are prized for their warm glow, but they naturally develop a patina (darkening) over time as they react to oxygen and skin oils.

The Coating: Our Nano Ceramic Coating is specifically applied to slow down this transition and prevent the "green skin" effect often associated with raw copper and bronze.

Best Practices: Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, perfumes, lotions, and chlorinated water, as these can break down the ceramic barrier prematurely.

Maintenance: To clean, simply wipe with a damp soft cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive metal cleaners or "shining" cloths, as these may strip away the protective ceramic coating.

### General Longevity Tips for All Metals

To keep your DABforge original looking its best, follow these three golden rules:

Last On, First Off: Put your jewelry on after applying hairspray or cologne, and take it off before starting your nightly skincare routine.

The "Dry Zone": Never store your metal pieces in a humid environment (like a bathroom). A cool, dry jewelry box is the best home for your forge-fired treasures.

Check the Finish: While Nano Ceramic Coating is incredibly durable, it is not "indestructible." High-friction items (like rings) may show wear on the coating over years of daily use. If you feel your piece needs a "tune-up" or a fresh coat, feel free to contact the forge.

A Note on "Living Finish": Hand-forged metal is unique. Small changes in the tone and texture over the years are not defects; they are the "soul" of the metal recording your story.
